Holy Week

As we enter Holy Week, students will be asked to continue focusing on their lenten promises.  They will study the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary by reading each of the corresponding scriptures.  On Friday, all students will meet to meditate on the 14 Stations of the Cross at 11:15, followed by dismissal at noon.

On Monday of this week, a note and permission form will come home with information on a field trip to the Pacific Science Center for the Math Moves exhibit. It is scheduled for April 4th, the Monday after Spring Break. Third, fourth and fifth grade classes will be attending. Please return the forms by Wednesday, March 23rd indicating if you are available to chaperone.

On Wednesday, April 6, our class will be hosting a School Mass at 9am. Students will be chosen and given their reading assignments so they can practice during Spring Break. We hope you'll be able to attend.

Math Club is off to a great start. We got down to the nitty-gritty of long division, pulling apart the how and why and solidifying strategies. This Wednesday will be the last class on long division. No Math Club on Thursday.  Thanks to all who brought snacks for us!

Attached is the homework. Highlights include Chapter 9 Math test on Thursday.

A Look at this Week

The last trimester has begun. Hard to believe we are already at this point of the school year!  Report cards will be going home Thursday.  Students have worked very hard and made great academic gains during the 2nd trimester. They should all be very proud of themselves!

This is a 4 day week (no school Friday), so Mrs. Ferguson's reading group will have their spelling test on Thursday. Also, on Thursday, our class has earned a free dress day! Please have your student wear something green for our St. Patrick's Day party, scheduled for the afternoon.

On Friday a note went home with information about a morning Math Club I'll be teaching for those students who are needing extra practice solving problems using the four operations and Singapore math strategies.  Please return the permission form by Tuesday of this week if your child will be attending.

The third grade will be hosting a school mass on Wednesday, April 6th, following Spring Break.  If your student is chosen as a reader, I will send home a copy of what they'll be reading next week, so they can practice during our time off.

Attached is my reading group's spelling activity list.  I will post the homework schedule tomorrow morning.

Classroom Happenings (And Homework!)

So sorry! I forgot to attach the homework for this week.
Our class has been under attack by a cold virus the last 10 days, me being the latest victim, so please excuse my fogginess.
Students will begin to put together their February, Mystery book report project this week. Please make sure your child has their mystery book in class.
March reading logs, newsletter, and book report form will come home on Friday. The March book report will be due Tuesday, April 5th.
