This Week

Hope you're enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend.

Homework is attached. You'll notice a couple of important dates coming up that I've added.  Wednesday, April 27th we will have the chapter test on Fractions and Friday, April 29th, Book Review #1 is due. If your student has misplaced their papers, please have them talk to me about getting another set.  Also, check in with your students to make sure they've chosen and are reading the 2 books they need for this project. Please contact me with any questions.

We started our Seattle Unit last Friday. Students will be researching the 'Emerald City's' history, cultures, goods and services.

This week grades 3,4,5 will be assembling the Hope Care Kits for the homeless in partnership with the Bread of Life Mission in Pioneer Square. Money was raised by the classes in February.  Teacher volunteers will be handing out kits in the Ballard area.

Have a great week!

This Week...

Attached is the homework for this week along with my reading group's spelling activity sheet and study notes for a Science test we'll be having on Wednesday.  My reading group will also have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday based on the words from Glory Be .  All words, for both Science and Glory Be can be found on

Celebration of Learning is being held this Thursday evening. We hope you will try to attend. Students will be showing you around their classrooms and sharing work they've been doing throughout the year. Because of this event there will be no homework that night.

Have a great week

April Book Report

This month students will be reading 2 books by the same author and completing work related to these texts.  Some of the work will be done at home and some will be finished in the classroom. Because there are several standards (and therefore, extensive work) covered in this project, this will be our final book report for the year. More detailed information will be coming home this week.  By now, your students should have chosen the author and books for this project.

Change in Homework

There was a change in homework for tonight because of technical difficulties. Students will be completing a bar modeling review worksheet instead of fractions. I will save the fraction worksheet for Monday.

In Math Club next week we'll continue to work on bar modeling using the four operations. Thanks to all parents who supplied snacks for us! Math Club is scheduled on Wed. and Thurs. mornings from 7:45-8:15.  I will be at the front door by 7:40 to let students in.

Just a reminder book reports are due tomorrow.  If you child has misplaced the form, have them see me in the morning.

For tonight's homework, I asked students to write about their favorite exhibit at the Pacific Science Center and to also draw a picture.  They should have brought home their Writing notebooks to complete this assignment.
